RE Today’s team of RE specialist Advisers undertake a wide variety of consultancy roles e.g. working with Local Authorities, Dioceses, SACREs, individual and groups of schools and academies, government agencies, professional associations and commercial organisations.

Locally agreed syllabus & scheme of work
RE Today work with a number of Local Authorities and SACREs in revising and producing their locally agreed syllabus for RE. Our Advisers have produced a complete scheme of work to go alongside our syllabuses. You canview the full list of units that are available here.

Julia Diamond-Conway, National RE Adviser

Julia is a primary RE specialist who joined RE Today in 2014 after 14 years of teaching. As an Advanced Skills Teacher for RE and Behaviour for Learning, she supported numerous schools and helped develop her local authority’s Agreed Syllabus. She has contributed to Understanding Christianity and other RE Today publications, delivering nationwide training. A former NATRE executive member, she supports local groups, advises a London SACRE, and promotes pupil voice through Ambassadors of Faith and Belief schemes (AFABs).


Angela Hill, National RE Adviser & Editor of REtoday Magazine

Angela joined RE Today in 2018, bringing over a decade of experience teaching and leading RE, with a background in financial services. A former Head of RE and Lead Practitioner, she supported schools across five local authorities. At CEWC, she led a national Philosophy for Children project. An experienced GCSE examiner and consultant, Angela develops resources and training for teachers. She edits REtoday Magazine and works widely with schools, SACREs, dioceses, and trusts across the UK.


Julie Childs, National RE Adviser

Julie Childs is a passionate RE specialist with 29 years' teaching experience across EYFS to KS2, and leadership roles in both primary and secondary settings. A Farmington Scholar and NATRE Executive member, she has led national and regional RE networks, mentored ITT, and advised on curriculum and SMSC. Julie is committed to inspiring and empowering educators through training, support, and high-quality resources to ensure excellent RE provision for all pupils.


Ian Nicolson, National RE Adviser

With over 30 years in education, including 23 in the classroom and 7 as an adviser, Ian began his journey in Derbyshire, where RE sparked his curiosity about faith, existence, and human behaviour. After a Theology degree, teaching became a natural path. He has led RE and PSHE in secondary schools and served as Lancashire's RE Adviser. Now at RE Today, he supports SACREs nationwide and delivers high-impact training to develop high-quality RE provision.


Debbie Yeomans, National RE Adviser

Debbie, based in the East Midlands, has over 15 years' experience in RE leadership, including roles as a senior leader in schools and across a multi-academy trust. She has led RE for the Diocese of Leicester, NATRE local groups, and East Midlands RE Hubs. A former NATRE executive member and AREIAC officer, Debbie champions academically rigorous RE that nurtures critical thinking. At RE Today, she supports high-quality RE that equips pupils for life in a diverse, global society.


Stephen Pett, National RE Adviser

Stephen Pett is a National RE Adviser with expertise in both primary and secondary education. Formerly an RE subject leader and Advanced Skills Teacher, he worked on a neuroscience-in-education project with Oxford University. Stephen provides national and international training and consultancy, advises three SACREs, and edits RE Today’s secondary curriculum series. He is author and editor of several key RE publications and led the development of Understanding Christianity: Text Impact Connections, a widely used classroom resource.


Lat Blaylock, Consultant RE Adviser

Lat is a primary and secondary RE specialist and was the Editor of REtoday Magazine. He has authored numerous RE resources, including Picturing Christianity and Big, Big Questions, and contributed to Understanding Christianity. With 11 years’ teaching experience in Leicester, Lat now advises teachers, schools, SACREs, dioceses, and local authorities. His CPD training attracts thousands annually. He has produced RE content for the BBC and was the specialist writer for the 2013 RE Council national curriculum framework.
