By the end of this course, participants will:

• Explore the distinctive pedagogy of Understanding Christianity (UC) and its use in building ambitious, coherent learning about Christianity for 11-14s
• Examine how carefully sequenced learning enables pupils to build, retain and connect substantive knowledge of Christian beliefs, biblical texts, practices and diverse lived experience.
• Explore and apply practical approaches for helping pupils interpret biblical texts and appraise differing Christian readings, strengthening disciplinary literacy and hermeneutical understanding.
• Consider how UC can provide a robust foundation for progression into later examination study, while supporting emerging national expectations for substantive, disciplinary and personal knowledge in RE.
