What do we mean by ‘personal knowledge’ in RE, and why is it such an important part of pupils’ learning? As one of the ‘3 pillars of knowledge’ in RE, personal knowledge plays a vital role, yet many teachers find themselves asking: what does personal knowledge actually look like in practice, and how can it be planned for effectively?

This engaging and practical course is designed to help primary practitioners develop a clearer understanding of personal knowledge and its place within high-quality RE.

Participants will also consider the concept of positionality and how understanding of this is vital for personal knowledge in RE. Alongside exploring the theory behind personal knowledge, the course will provide a range of practical classroom activities and approaches to help teachers plan for and develop pupils’ personal knowledge with confidence.
