Talk in RE has always been an important component of teaching and learning and can support attainment by enabling pupils to talk through an answer before committing to paper. Geoff Barton in his paper on oracy talked about the power that directed talk has in ensuring pupils can make progress and in RE it can support not only substantive and disciplinary knowledge but have a major impact on personal knowledge.

This course will look at how Tier 2 and 3 language can be developed through a variety of activities to be incorporated into your own scheme of learning.

Benefits of attending for the delegate

  • A clear understanding of the development of oracy as a tool for deepening learning
  • Practical activities to be developed into your own scheme of learning
  • Links for oracy building from Key Stage 3 through to A Level

Benefits of attending – for the school:

  • Increased understanding of how RE can support a core cross curricular theme
