RE Today has been named finalist in the 2024 Christian Funders' Forum Showcase
National charity RE Today has been named a finalist in the prestigious Christian Funders' Forum (CFF) 2024 Showcase for its substantial teaching resource "Understanding Christianity". This notable event is being held at the House of Lords in London on 10 October. The Christian Funders’ Forum is a powerful collective of grant-makers, giving over £70m+ in funding each year to good causes.
As one of 10 finalists RE Today will be awarded a grant acknowledging this substantial resource within the "Impact" category, recognising and celebrating the difference RE Today has made in supporting Religious Education (RE) in circa 7000 primary and secondary schools across the UK. This resource is one of many produced by RE Today, which aims to give children a broad and balanced education to support them in the diverse and complex world they live in, through the teaching of high-quality teaching of religion and worldviews in schools.
Understanding Christianity is an innovative resource that equips teachers and learners with a deeper understanding of Christianity, contributing to improved religious literacy and fostering a respectful dialogue on religious and non-religious worldviews in schools. It has been widely adopted and celebrated for its transformative impact in RE lessons, its high-quality materials empowering educators to teach Christian beliefs and practices confidently and influencing pedagogies for all.
The Showcase event in October will be hosted by BAFTA award-winning broadcaster, singer and campaigner David Grant. This prestigious event, organised by the CFF, will spotlight ten pioneering and impactful Christian-based charities delivering critical support across various areas, from homelessness to youth engagement.
RE Today is honoured to be recognised as the most impactful/pioneering charity in the Pioneering category.
Zoë Keens, CEO, RE Today comments:
"Teachers from community and church schools have told us about the impact the Understanding Christianity resource has had in their classrooms. It has given teachers confidence about subject knowledge, and therefore confidence in teaching their pupils. It has provided ideas for teaching and learning that engage pupils, encouraging thoughtful discussions and creative expression. It has helped pupils learn about how Christians interpret the Bible and to develop their own skills of interpretation. A key part of the resource is the ‘Big Frieze’ which tells the Bible story from Genesis to Revelation. This fabulous artwork by Emma Yarlett has inspired children across the country, helping them to learn more about Christians, Christianity and the world around them. We are delighted that this impact is being acknowledged by the CFF award."
CFF Chair Suzannah O’Brien comments:
“Our 2024 Showcasing event will provide an opportunity to bring funders and grantmakers together, to network, celebrate and shine a light on the work we collectively support”.
