Spirited Poetry Online
Posted by: Rosemary, 13 July 2012
In the last issue of REtoday magazine we featured some of the winners from our third ‘Spirited Poetry’ competition, and these are all now available free on the NATRE website . There are many amazingly fine entries.
We are grateful to our sponsors, the Maurice and Hilda Laing Charitable Trust, because they provided sufficient resources to get sound files of the winning poems recorded by some children and young people. These are now available on the website. Please use them – one good way to do this is to ask pupils – maybe for homework – to listen to some of the poems, choose three favourites and write about why they liked them. This is a great preliminary activity for their own poetry writing in a following lesson.
We are grateful to Dave Francis for sorting out the sound files, and to Melchior Telematics for adding them to the site.
