Hockerill/NATRE Prize 2012 Winners
Posted by: Rosemary, 30 May 2012
Hockerill Educational Trust and NATRE are very pleased to announce the winners of the Hockerilll/NATRE Prize for Innovation in RE teaching,
In its second year the competition attracted 10 entries, with schools from all over the UK taking part as well as one entry from New Zealand, making this now a truly International Prize. The judges commented that, although the number of entries was down on 2011, the entries were truly representative of the very high standards reached in the teaching of RE.
The judges wish to thank all the participants for the efforts they went to, not only in preparing their entries, but in developing the materials / schemes of work submitted. The teaching profession can be proud that it can count amongst its members these dedicated and imaginative teachers of RE.
In Primary Education
The judging criteria are very rigorous and it is only the exceptional entry that will meet all the judges’ requirements. The entries in Primary were examples of very good teaching of mainstream RE Topics but they did not meet all the criteria. The judges have identified two entries as meriting a second Prize and this year we will be awarding joint second Prizes.
