Staffordshire County Counci is proviidng a training course to support teachers of RE, PSHE and Science education in primary schools to deliver effective Relationship Education with 9 - 11s.
The course is based around the new publication from RE Today Services Body & Soul: active learning for relationship education with 9 - 11s and all course participants will be given a copy of this resource pack to take away, worth £37.50.
Body & Soul explores six themes: Love and Intimacy; Working Together and Thankfulness; Promises and Respect; Forgiveness and Reconciliation; Sharing Hard Times; Celebration and Pleasure. The pack contains a teacher’s book, DVD with additional resources and 16 picture cards for visual learning. There are also six stories specially written by children’s author Ruth Whiter for reading aloud and talking about in circle time.

The DfE has published its implementation plan for training teachers. A copy of ‘Training our next generation of teachers - mnplementsation Plan’ is given below.

In the introduction to the Implementation Plan, Secretary of State for Education, MIchael Gove, writes: ‘This ITT strategy implementation plan reaffirms our commitment to recruiting the very best graduates into teaching, securing better value from the public investment in ITT, and reforming training so that more ITT is led by schools and there is a focus on the most important elements of being a teacher…. The plan sets out in further detail the proposals from the ITT strategy that the government will take forward.’

Helping your pupils to make sense of the world is the title of new course being run by The Association for Citizenship Teaching (ACT), working with The Three Faiths Forum and Amnesty International.
Today’s pupils are growing up in a world where issues such as terrorism, justice, role of the media, human rights, truth claims, religion, torture are constantly in the news. This one-day course is designed to equip teachers to tackle these issues in the classroom with confidence.
