SMSC and British Values

Course Date: 11 July 2016

This dynamic and inspiring one day course for heads, RE subject leaders and other interested teachers will:

• Provide many fully resourced ready to use practical classroom activities for RE and some aspects of the wider curriculum that promote each of the elements of SMSC and British values.
• Show how primary schools can respond creatively to OFSTED’s inspection requirements for SMSC and British Values
• Answer questions about how the ethos and values of the school promote spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and preparation for life in modern Britain for 4-11s.
• Give teachers confidence to maximise the opportunities for spiritual development.
This dynamic and inspiring one day course is for heads, RE subject leaders and other interested teachers to consider how they can improve pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and teach British Values. There will be a focus on how primary schools can respond creatively to Ofsted’s latest inspection requirements for SMSC and preparing for life in modern Britain and an opportunity to ask questions about how the ethos and values of the school promote this with 4-11s. The day aims to give teachers confidence to maximise the opportunities for spiritual development; an area some find difficult to provide pupil opportunities for.
The day will provide many fully resourced ready-to-use practical classroom activities. Whilst many examples will reflect Religious Education, the wider curriculum will also be reflected in the training as SMSC and British Values are a whole school priority.

Tutor: Fiona Moss, RE Adviser, RE Today Services.
Venue: Birmingham
Cost: £175 (NATRE members and RE Today subscribers); £205 (non subscribers)
Booking: Book online or contact our Courses Administrator by email or phone (0121 458 3313).
